Every year the Fusion is updated to ensure that it is a top competitor in its class. That's what the reviewers at Edmunds are saying in their review of the 2018 Ford Fusion. You can certainly see this for yourself, whether you are looking for style and comfort, technology and entertainment, or the right blend of performance and economy. A high safety rating with a menu of crash avoidance options is also a big plus.

Performance

Three EcoBoost engines are available to Fusion shoppers. Drivers can pick the horsepower that suits them, knowing that fuel economy is as good as it can be. The first upgrade nets 181 horsepower while the second boosts that to 242 horsepower. High torque levels give you the push you need for faster acceleration. Ford now offers stop-start technology to reduce how much gas is used during city driving. A V6 option is especially fun, since this powertrain kicks out 325 horsepower.

Interior and Features

Handsome and well-appointed, the Fusion interior is a welcoming place to spend time. Drivers will appreciate the ergonomic cockpit with keyless ignition, a rotary shifter, and an electric parking brake. Titanium editions cover the seats in a suede-like softness. Platinum editions push the boundaries with leather upholstery for everyone and a power-adjusting steering wheel for the driver. The Sync system lets you control the action via a touchscreen and voice controls. You've even got the option of advanced integration with Apple Carplay or its rival Android Auto.

Safety

When the Fusion was tested by the federal crash experts, they gave it good marks and a final rating of five stars. Every Fusion has eight airbags, a higher count than the average six in many vehicles. The structure of the car is built to prevent impact from reaching the passengers. This decreases the likelihood of accidents. A built-in SOS sensor can reach out for help when the driver is incapacitated. When equipped with the optional crash avoidance features, the Fusion is a Top Safety Pick, according to the crash experts at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. These systems include parking aids like a rear cross-traffic alert and an automated parallel/parking feature. For help with avoiding bigger dangers, the driver can get a blind spot monitor, forward crash warning, and lane watch. An autobrake may save the vehicle from a fender bender or from hitting a pedestrian.
