Performance and Handling
F-150 drivers can choose between a range of engine options: A 3.3-liter 290-hp V6 engine that provides 265 pound-feet of torque, a turbocharged V6 that offers 325 horses and 400 pound-feet of torque, a larger turbocharged V6 that pushes the envelope to provide 375 horses and 470 pound-feet of torque, a 5.0-liter V8 that gets you 395 hp and 400 pound-feet of torque, and an exclusive engine for the Raptor trim, a 450-hp turbocharged V6 that produces 510 pound-feet of torque.
The F-250 is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 producing 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. It's partnered with a heavy-duty SelectShift six-speed automatic transmission.
Both the 2018 Ford F-150 and F-250 come with standard rear-wheel drive and optional four-wheel drive. The F-150 boasts outstanding visibility and new larger wheels that provide a smooth ride. Both trucks can be equipped with features that improve handling and towing safety, including trailer sway control, dynamic hitch assist, trailer backup assist, and anti-lock brakes.
Towing and Hauling Capacity
The 2018 Ford F-150 has better towing and hauling capacities than every other full-size pickup- a 13,200-pound limit for towing when properly equipped and a 3,270-pound maximum payload. With the 2018 Ford F-250, you can tow up to 21,000 pounds with a conventional tow and 35,000 pounds with a gooseneck. It can haul up to 7,630 pounds.
Safety
Both trucks are available with advanced driver assistance safety features. In the Ford F-250, this includes adaptive cruise control, which adjusts your speed automatically even in traffic, along with collision warning, brake support, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, and a high-definition surround-view camera.
Although the Ford F-250 has not undergone industry crash testing, the 2018 Ford F-150 has received the highest crash test ratings in every category from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
