With its second production cycle, the 2016 Ford Fusion morphed into a midsize sedan known for its distinctive sporty silhouette, vast array of smart technologies, exciting driving, and composed handling. Virtually unchanged for the 2016 model year, the Ford Fusion is available in S, SE, and Titanium trims.

Performance

Powering the S and SE trims is a 2.5-liter 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine (I4), which produces 175 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The top-of-the-line Titanium trim uses a smaller yet more powerful 2.0-liter 16-valve I4, which can pump out up to 231 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque. Each engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift, which allows you to choose between a conventional automatic-shifting drive mode and semi-automatic shifting sport mode; paddle shifters are added on the Titanium. Although front-wheel drive is standard on the 2016 Ford Fusion, you can get an all-wheel drive for enhanced traction. Fuel economy peaks at 22 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

Interior

The 2016 Ford Fusion sports a sleek interior with soft-touch materials. With maximum seating for five people, the Fusion is spacious and provides lots of comfort with its 102.8 cubic feet of passenger volume. The S trim offers cloth front bucket seats, giving the driver and front passenger more comfort on the road. Upgrade to the SE, and you get 10-way power adjustability on the front seats, with three memory settings and power lumbar on the driver’s seat. The Titanium adds sport-stitched leather trimming and heating capability for the front seats.

Features

At the base level, the 2016 Ford Fusion is equipped with remote keyless entry, voice-controlled Sync® with Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel-mounted controls, rearview camera, power door mirrors, automatic halogen headlights, and MyKey® for allowing you to set vehicle speed and audio volume limits for other drivers. With the SE, you also get heating capability and turn-signal indicators on the door mirrors, SiriusXM satellite radio, and six speakers with the stereo system (instead of four). The top-tier Titanium gets a 12-speaker Sony® premium audio system with HD Radio, in addition to a dual exhaust system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and eco-friendly cruise control.

Safety

The 2016 Ford Fusion comes with dual front impact airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, dual front seat-mounted side impact airbags, and dual roof-mounted side curtain airbags that covers all rows of seats. Accompanying the airbags is a Personal Safety System for adjusting the deployment of the front airbags to enhance the protection of front-seat occupants. Also on the vehicle are AdvanceTrac® electronic stability system, anti-lock brake system (ABS) with all-wheel disc brakes, tire pressure monitoring system, and SecuriLock® anti-theft system. The SE and Titanium trims also come with SecuriCode™ keyless entry keypad, which enables you to enter a security code to unlock the vehicle doors and gain access to the vehicle.
