Performance

Standard in the Ford Focus SE Sedan, the 1.0 L EcoBoost I-3 engine generates 123 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque. This three-cylinder engine is controlled by the Auto Stop/Start technology. Rated at 160 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque, the 2.0 L Ti-VCT I-4 engine propels the S Sedan, SE, SEL and Titanium editions. Under the hood of the ST Hatch is the 2.0 L EcoBoost I-4 engine that yields up to 252 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. The RS Hatch is driven by the 2.3 L EcoBoost I-4 engine that produces a maximum of 350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Both of these EcoBoost engines come with powerful turbochargers. With a peak output of 174 hp and 167 lb-ft of torque, the Honda Civic's 1.5 L turbo engine doesn't even come close to matching the capabilities of the EcoBoost engines. If you want a model that doesn't use a single drop of fuel, then get the Ford Focus Electric Hatch. This economical car runs on a permanent magnet electric motor and lithium-ion battery with a liquid-cooled design.

Technology

The Ford Focus is available with the SYNC 3 infotainment system that includes an 8-inch LCD display. You can easily manipulate the capacitive touch screen to access GPS navigation and other digital utilities. SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link are integrated into the navigation software. The Civic only has live feeds by Honda HD Digital Traffic. Both sedans are connected to premium music channels such as SiriusXM Satellite Radio and HD Radio. Featuring 10 speakers, the Sony sound system evenly distributes high-quality acoustics throughout the Focus. Rated at 450 watts, the Civic's generic 10 speakers don't have a label of any electronics brand. Both cars have smartphone-friendly technology like Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Wireless Bluetooth is another mobile-friendly feature that's installed in these sedans. You could also use the MyFord mobile app to remotely manage and monitor the Focus. This feature even lets you check the battery charge and efficiency of the Electric Hatch model.
