The 2017 Ford Edge vs 2017 Hyundai Tucson. What's Your Choice?

Serving Chattanooga, Nashville, and Dalton, TN

A lot of today’s drivers prefer the overall versatility of a crossover SUV. The 2017 Ford Edge’s flexible interior and excellent safety rating make it a top choice. Even the base SE model comes loaded with a lot of useful components. Featuring a sports-tuned suspension and a dynamic engine, the Edge Sport truly turns up the level of driving exclusive. All versions of the new Edge pack a lot of style.

The Hyundai Tucson is also a rewarding crossover SUV. Its athletic styling and comfortable ride has impressed a lot of people. Let’s see how the 2017 Ford Edge stacks up to the new Hyundai Tucson.

Performance

For the 2017 model year, the Ford Edge continues to offer an exciting engine lineup. Ford tuned the base 2.0L EcoBoost engine to develop a stout 245 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. You can also opt for an even stronger V-6 engine, which churns out a muscular 280 horsepower. Although the Hyundai Tucson delivers a peppy performance, its top-of-the-line engine only produces 175 horsepower. If you really want to have some fun, check out the high-performance Edge Sport. Its turbocharged V-6 engine produces a thrilling 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. A 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds puts it among the quickest crossovers on the road. In contrast to the Tucson, the Edge offers a sports-tuned suspension and an adaptive steering system.

Interior

One of the Ford Edge’s trademarks has become its versatile interior. Your family will certainly like the crossover's spacious design. When traveling a long distance, reclining rear seats enable your passengers to gain extra comfort. Upgrades, such as ventilated seats, make the Ford Edge an especially relaxing vehicle. Like the Ford Edge, the Hyundai Tucson is designed to seat up five people. However, it fails to match the Edge’s level of roominess. Backseat passengers in the Edge will have an extra 2.4 inches of legroom. The Edge also provides an additional three inches of hip room in the back. Furthermore, the Hyundai Tucson offers significantly less cargo space.

Features

Both of these SUVs come standard with a lot of modern conveniences, including Bluetooth technology and a rear-view camera. Nevertheless, the Ford Edge offers a more impressive list of premium upgrades. Featuring a total of 12 speakers, the Edge’s thunderous Sony sound system outperforms the Tucson’s eight-speaker unit. Meanwhile, an automated parking system and a front-view camera make the Edge much easier to park in urban areas. The Edge’s optional DVD entertainment system is yet another upscale feature not available on the Tucson. While the Tucson’s infotainment unit does perform well, it is not as advanced as Ford’s cutting-edge Sync 3 system.

The new Hyundai Tucson has become a solid all-around SUV. Unfortunately, it is still overshadowed by the 2017 Ford Edge. You will grow to appreciate the Edge’s stronger performance and more luxurious cabin. To see how the new 2017 Edge performs in the real world, stop by Mountain View Ford for a test drive.
